Buying a yacht

A clear path from first search to closing

Every purchase is different — the process varies with the vessel, its flag and location, the ownership structure and the agreement between the parties. These are the steps most buyers move through.

  1. Define use and budget

How you will use the boat, where, with how many guests — and a budget that includes ownership costs.

  2. Identify suitable vessels

We shortlist boats from our listings and beyond that genuinely fit your brief.

  3. Review specifications and records

Compare specifications, maintenance history, upgrades and documentation.

  4. Arrange a viewing

See the boat in person, or by video first if you are travelling from abroad.

  5. Offer and negotiation

A written offer, typically subject to survey and sea trial, with agreed deposit terms.

  6. Survey and inspections

An independent marine survey, sea trial and mechanical inspections by professionals you choose.

  7. Title and documentation

Ownership, registration, liens and import status reviewed with appropriate professionals.

  8. Closing and handover

Funds and transfer documents exchanged as agreed; keys, manuals and records handed over.

Never rely only on photographs or a broker’s description when deciding to buy. Independent inspection and professional advice are essential parts of a sound purchase.

Selling a yacht

A listing prepared to reach qualified buyers

A professionally prepared listing helps the right buyers understand your yacht quickly — and helps you avoid surprises later in the process.

  • Accurate listing information
  • Organized photography
  • Clearly presented specifications
  • A realistic asking-price strategy
  • Marketing to relevant audiences
  • Responsive buyer inquiry handling
  • Coordinated viewings
  • Help organizing offers and transaction steps

Results depend on condition, price, location, market demand and timing. We do not promise a sale, a price or a timeframe — we promise careful preparation and clear communication.

New versus pre-owned

Two good routes to ownership

Neither is automatically better. The right choice depends on your budget, timeline, the models you like and how much certainty you want about a vessel’s history.

Factory new

A new yacht may offer

  • Factory warranty, subject to the builder’s terms
  • Current equipment, systems and design
  • Choice of configurations on suitable models
  • A known delivery specification
  • No previous ownership or maintenance history to investigate

Consider build or delivery lead times, depreciation in the early years and the cost of options.

Buying a new yacht
Pre-owned

A pre-owned yacht may offer

  • A lower purchase price than some new alternatives
  • Access to discontinued or distinctive models
  • Potentially slower depreciation, depending on the market
  • Equipment and upgrades already installed
  • A wider selection within a fixed budget

Condition and maintenance history matter. A good-looking boat is not necessarily a sound one — survey, inspect, review documentation and sea-trial where appropriate.

Yacht management

Enjoy the yacht. Let partners handle the upkeep.

Some owners use their yacht privately and want it properly maintained between visits; others are interested in chartering it when they are not aboard. We can connect you with qualified management partners whose services may include:

  • 01Routine maintenance coordination
  • 02Oil changes and scheduled servicing
  • 03Cleaning and washing
  • 04Systems checks
  • 05Vendor and repair coordination
  • 06Marina and storage coordination
  • 07Maintenance record organization
  • 08Captain and crew coordination
  • 09Preparing the yacht for owner arrival
  • 10Charter-management coordination, where appropriate

Services, frequency and pricing depend on the provider, location, yacht and agreement. Management is provided by independent partners and is not included with a yacht purchase.

We are a yacht brokerage focused on buying and selling boats and yachts for clients throughout Mexico. We help buyers find and evaluate suitable vessels, help owners prepare and market their yachts for sale, and coordinate viewings, offers and the steps toward closing. Where specialist work is needed — surveys, legal and customs advice, management — we work alongside independent professionals.

No. Inventory location varies. Several current listings are in the United States, and each listing shows its location when known. Some buyers prefer a boat already in Mexico; others purchase abroad and arrange delivery. We can help you weigh both options.

Listings change. Each listing page states where its information came from, and price and availability must always be confirmed with the brokerage before you make decisions. Some vessels are marked “availability unconfirmed” with price on request.

Yes. Tell us the type of boat, size range, budget and where you plan to use it. We can look beyond our current listings, including larger yachts through our partner network. Start on our contact page.

Complete the listing form with your yacht’s details and a few photographs. We review every submission and contact you to discuss presentation, pricing strategy and next steps. Submitting the form does not commit you to anything.

We strongly recommend an independent marine survey, usually with a haul-out and sea trial, plus separate engine and systems inspections where appropriate. Photographs and listing descriptions are not a substitute. A survey reduces risk but cannot eliminate it. Read our marine survey guide.

We can connect owners with qualified management partners for maintenance coordination, cleaning, systems checks, marina arrangements and, where appropriate, charter management. Services depend on the provider and the agreement you make with them. See yacht management.

Foreign buyers do purchase yachts kept in Mexico, but requirements depend on nationality, residency, the vessel’s flag and its import status. Confirm your situation with a licensed Mexican customs broker and a maritime attorney before buying.
